The Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) and ALTEZZA Travel have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that pledges significant support amounting to USD 20,000 to schools and students in need.

This initiative aims to enhance educational facilities, provide learning and teaching materials, and offer other essential resources to aid students from disadvantaged communities in the Arusha region.

The official exchange of the signed MoU occurred on March 16, 2024, at Altezza Travel’s headquarters in the Aishi Hotel Machame, Kilimanjaro. The event saw TEA’s Acting Director of Resource Mobilization and Education Support, Mr. Masozi Nyirenda, and Altezza Travel’s Manager, Mr. Dickson F. Muganda, representing their respective organizations.

Under the terms of the MoU, Altezza Travel will collaborate with the Education Fund managed by TEA to construct educational infrastructure and supply learning materials. It will also cover tuition fees for about 150 pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping alleviate financial barriers to accessing quality education.

Mr. Muganda emphasized that the sponsorship would extend to providing school uniforms and additional learning resources such as school supplies and books.

Mr. Nyirenda praised Altezza Travel for their commitment to supporting the community through the Education Fund. He noted that all contributions, whether monetary or in-kind, would qualify for tax relief under Section 16 (1) of the Income Tax Act, 2004.

He encouraged all donors in the education sector to contribute through the Education Fund to be eligible for tax benefits. "Donors are recognized with a Certificate of Education Appreciation (CEA), co-signed by the Commissioner for Tanzania Revenue Authority and the Director General of Tanzania Education Authority,” said Mr. Nyirenda. This certificate, valid for six years from the date of issue, serves as a basis for applying for tax relief.
