TANZANIA Education Authority (TEA) has embarked on rehabilitation of seven National Secondary Schools in Dodoma, Tanga, Coastal, and Mwanza regions.
The rehabilitation exercise follows the TEA-Board’s award of 17th June, 2017 in which Seven National Secondary schools namely Dodoma, Bihawana, Kondoa Girls, Korogwe Girls, Ruvu Girls, Bwiru Girls, and Sengerema National Secondary Schools were awarded funds for their rehabilitation.
TEA has contracted Mbeya University of Scuence and Technology Bureau (MUST) as a Consultant for both seven schools, while the construction is expected to be executed by the use of a Force Account procurement Method.
Speaking in various occasions during enaguration events, the TEA Acting Director General, Ms Graceana Shirima, said that TEA in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is implementing a rehabilitation plan for 89 government old Secondary schools, which are to be implemented in various phases.
Ms Shirima has said that the rehabilitation exercise is expected to be completed within four months
In order to make the project a success, TEA has promised to collaborate with Local Councils and the schools’ leadership in a bid to have a smooth rehabilitation exercise.
“TEA realises that involvement of LGAs management and beneficiary Schools’ management is vital in bringing efficiency of the rehabilitation exercise,” said Ms Shirima.
in 2017, TEA implemented the rehabilitation exercise to ten National Secondary schools namely, Mzumbe, Pugu, Kilakala, Mwenge, Msalato, Nganza, Same, and Ilboru Secondary Schools. Most of these projects are in final stages.
Most of the Infrastructure in National Secondary Schools have been in dire situation, impeding the swift learning and teaching processes. The rehabilitation exercise shall see classes, dormitories, libraries, laboratories, administration blocks, ablution blocks, electrical and water systems, and staff houses renovated to their best.
